Holistic Psychotherapy, EMDR & Wellness Manhattan
Fees Insurance FAQs
*PLEASE NOTE THAT HMO, TRICARE, MEDICARE, AND MEDICAID COVERAGE DO NOT REIMBURSE FOR OUT-OF-NETWORK MENTAL HEALTH COSTS.
this practice is an out-of-network, fee-for-service practice, so here’s how you check if you’re eligible for insurance reimbursement. I Can file your insurance claim submissions on your behalf or provide you with a Detailed superbill for you to submit.
Contact Your Insurance Company – Find their phone number on your insurance card.
Determine If You Have Out-Of-Network Benefits – Ask if your plan includes out-of-network benefits for mental health care.
Determine If You Have a Deductible Before Coverage Starts – Ask what your out-of-network mental health services deductible is and what amount you’ll have to pay out of pocket before your policy starts to reimburse you.
Find Out How Much Your Plan Will Reimburse – Ask your policy’s maximum allowed amount for the mental health service code 90834 (used for ongoing psychotherapy), 90837 (used for EMDR psychotherapy), 90847 (used for couples psychotherapy), and what percentage your policy pays. Ask them for that percentage for a master-level therapist (social worker, professional counselor, etc.).
Use This Information To Understand What Therapy Will Cost You – The percent of the maximum allowed is what you’d receive as a reimbursement after you have met your deductible for the year.
Cancellation policy
You can cancel your weekly session at any time. To be considerate of your therapist’s schedule and time, I ask for a 48-hour advance notice of a cancellation. However, I know that unexpected things can happen at the last minute, so if you do not show up for your scheduled appointment and you have not notified me 48 hours in advance, I will make every effort to reschedule your appointment within the week of your appointment. If we are unable to reschedule, you will be responsible for the full fee for the missed session.
How Can Holistic psychotherapy & wellness manhattan Help Me?
I practice integrative, holistic psychotherapy informed by psychodynamic and interpersonal therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, somatic experiencing, CBT, mindful self-compassion, neuroplasticity and behavior change, positive psychology, couples techniques, and integrative medicine/nutrition coaching.
Therapy can help address anxiety, depression, loss, life transitions, PTSD, relationship challenges, loneliness, emotional dysregulation, existential concerns, and more. You do not need a mental health diagnosis to seek support—many people come to therapy simply to better understand themselves or gain clarity in their lives.
How Quickly Can I Schedule An Appointment?
I often have same-day or same-week openings. Emails and texts are usually answered within a few hours, often sooner. You may also schedule directly through my online scheduler. If you don’t see a suitable time, send me a text and I will find an appointment that works for you.
Is Holistic Psychotherapy & Wellness Manhattan Eligible for Insurance Reimbursement?
Yes. I am an out-of-network provider, and full payment is due at each session via credit card, HSA, or cash. If you plan to seek reimbursement, I can provide monthly receipts and can also file out-of-network claims on your behalf.
Sessions use standard CPT codes (90834 for 45 minutes, 90837 for 60 minutes). Most PPO and employer-based plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network psychotherapy after your deductible is met, often between 40–80%. Patients have received reimbursement from Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Oxford/United, among others.
Please contact your insurance company to confirm your benefits and deductible.
How Do I Know What to Look for in a Therapist?
A good therapist should help you feel heard, understood, and never judged. You should feel safe discussing your thoughts and emotions, as therapy requires time, trust, and emotional investment.
Therapists vary in style and training. Some have specialized expertise in trauma, anxiety, addiction, or eating disorders; others are generalists who treat a broad range of concerns. It can be helpful to ask about a therapist’s experience, approach, and training—especially if you’re seeking support for a specific issue.
How Long Will I Need To Be In Therapy?
The length of therapy depends on your goals, current challenges, and personal preference. Some individuals seek short-term, focused work with structured goals. Others benefit from more in-depth therapy when longstanding patterns require deeper exploration.
Some clients meet weekly; others twice weekly or more during periods of crisis. You may also return to therapy in the future when new life stages or circumstances arise.
What Type of Therapy Should I Be Looking For?
Insight and self-awareness are important, but lasting change often requires behavioral and nervous-system-based work as well. Top-down approaches like CBT are sometimes most effective when paired with bottom-up methods such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and other body-based therapies that help address the root causes of emotional and trauma-related symptoms.
Depending on your needs, your therapist may draw from:
Psychodynamic psychotherapy
Relational and interpersonal therapy
Humanistic and gestalt approaches
Attachment-focused therapy
EMDR
Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor techniques
Internal Family Systems
DBT
CBT
Trauma resolution methods
During your initial consultation, we will determine which approaches are most appropriate for you.
Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts—What’s the Difference?
Psychotherapists are licensed mental health professionals—such as psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, or marriage and family therapists—who provide talk therapy and sometimes somatic therapies.
Psychiatrists (MDs) can prescribe medication. Some also provide therapy.
Psychologists (PhD/PsyD) have doctoral training and may focus on therapy or research.
Psychoanalysts complete advanced training in psychoanalysis, including undergoing their own analysis. Some come from mental health backgrounds; others may hold different graduate degrees depending on their training institute.
If important to you, you may ask whether a therapist has completed their own in-depth therapy, which many believe is essential for practitioners.
What Do I Do to Get Started With Therapy?
Feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential. I offer a free 15-minute phone call to answer questions and help determine whether we are a good fit. From there, you can schedule an initial session. If you decide to continue elsewhere, you will still leave with a clearer understanding of your needs and helpful recommendations.
What Is Holistic Psychotherapy?
Holistic psychotherapy considers the whole person rather than viewing the mind or body in isolation. We may explore areas such as health, relationships, career, spirituality, play, finances, home environment, and community—because all parts of your life shape your well-being.
My training integrates insight-oriented therapy, skill-building, and somatic and trauma-focused approaches. We will work with both what’s challenging and what’s already going well to support healing and growth.
Do I Need Holistic Psychotherapy Right Now?
If you're here, you may be seeking a deeper, more integrative approach or exploring alternatives to conventional psychiatry. Holistic psychotherapy can be especially helpful when symptoms such as anxiety, depression, attention difficulties, or low motivation persist despite medication—or when you prefer to avoid medication.
We explore potential contributing factors such as inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, gut and thyroid health, hormonal balance, neurotransmitter function, and lifestyle influences. For individuals wishing to reduce medication, natural remedies and supplements may support the process.
How Can I Tell If Therapy Is Working?
Open communication is key. Tell me what feels helpful and what doesn’t; together we will adjust our approach. Effective therapy often leads to noticeable changes in daily functioning, relationships, and emotional resilience. If another therapist would be a better fit, I am always happy to provide referrals.
What If I Don’t Have Mental Health Problems but Want to Feel Better?
Holistic therapy supports anyone seeking greater balance, meaning, or well-being—not just those with a diagnosis. Modern life is demanding, and therapy can offer structure, tools, and support to help you feel more aligned, present, and grounded.
I’ve Had Traditional Talk Therapy and Want Something New. What Other Approaches Do You Offer?
For those wanting less verbal processing, I offer somatic and experiential therapies informed by EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, and mind-body stress regulation.
What Problems Can a Holistic Psychotherapy Approach Help Me Resolve?
Holistic methods can support stress reduction, emotional regulation, trauma recovery, relationship concerns, grief, life transitions, ADHD/attention challenges, anxiety, depression, and lifestyle-related issues such as sleep, exercise, and chronic stress patterns.
