Mindfulness & Self-Compassion
Mindfulness-based Therapy serving NYC & NY
The Practice
Put simply, meditation is an activity of receptivity, of allowing thoughts, feelings, and emotions to come and go. It is openness. It's normal for the mind to be busy and active. Meditation is not about emptying the mind, but allowing whatever is present to just be. This mindfulness training is designed for New Yorkers who live fast, feel deeply, and long to breathe a little easier—right where they are. Offered entirely online, these sessions offer more than just stress relief—they’re a return to the present moment, to inner steadiness, to the you beneath the noise.
Through guided meditation, breathwork, somatic awareness, and evidence-based mindfulness tools, you’ll learn how to meet your life with more clarity, calm, and compassion. Whether you're just beginning or deepening a long-time practice, online meditation and mindfulness sessions provide a powerful way to reconnect with yourself—right in the middle of a busy, demanding life.
Many people believe they “can’t meditate” because their minds are too noisy. But the truth is, meditation isn’t about having a blank mind—it’s about noticing what arises. When thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations distract you, the practice is to gently return your awareness to the breath or another chosen focus. This simple yet profound discipline helps reduce stress, improve attention, and foster self-compassion over time.
Clients often seek mindfulness-based therapy or meditation support to manage symptoms like anxiety, depression, burnout, emotional reactivity, cravings, insomnia, and difficulty focusing. With consistent practice, many notice greater emotional regulation, improved sleep, increased patience, and enhanced creativity. Meditation can also deepen your connection to yourself and others, supporting healing at both the psychological and nervous system levels.
There is no single “right” way to meditate. Some prefer sitting in silence, while others are drawn to walking meditation, guided visualizations, or breathing exercises. Whether you’re curious about Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Transcendental Meditation (TM), Loving-Kindness, or body scans, I’ll help you find a practice that resonates with your lifestyle and needs. Even a few minutes a day can bring powerful benefits.
As a therapist who integrates mind-body healing and trauma-informed meditation, I support clients in building a sustainable practice—without judgment or rigid expectations. You don’t need an altar, a perfect space, or even a lot of time. You just need willingness, and maybe a little guidance to begin.
If you're seeking virtual meditation support in New York, Bozeman, or Big Sky, or are interested in incorporating mindfulness into your therapy sessions, I offer individualized approaches that help you cultivate inner stillness, emotional resilience, and nervous system balance.
About Mindfulness
Developed more than two decades ago at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., mindfulness training helps a person live in the present moment to better handle the ups and downs of life. By intentionally bringing non-judgmental awareness to breathing, body sensations, moods, thoughts, and feelings including fear, anger, frustration, desire, and self-doubt. As such, a person is better equipped to deal with the challenges of life. This very special kind of attentiveness enables one to acquire new insights about life situations, and in turn, develop ways to consciously respond, rather than react to the conditions of life.
How does one practice mindfulness?
People simply observe what arises in the body and mind, perceiving each experience as an event in their field of awareness. This fuller, moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness known as Mindfulness frees one to make clearer and more attuned decisions.Mindfulness is learning to work with what is, and acceptance of reality, in a less reactive and judgmental manner.
Most people report an increased ability to relax, greater resilience, more energy and enthusiasm for life, increased self-confidence, and an enhanced ability to cope more effectively with both short and long-term, stressful situations. The practice of Mindfulness teaches practitioners a way of being more deeply present in the body with a range of thoughts and emotions.
Mindfulness is an elegant and simple approach to living a meaningful life. Western medicine is now recognizing Mindfulness as a powerful, evidence-based tool for dealing with trauma, PTSD symptoms, attachment deficits, chronic stress, pain, depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, overwhelming feelings and emotions and many other medical and psychological conditions.
